Title: A Christmas Story
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Luke, Reid, and Chris, with mentions of Katie and a few other characters.
Word Count: 7000
Summary: Luke knows Reid's going to object to a Christmas tradition at Oakdale Memorial, but he doesn't expect the reaction he gets when he brings it up.
Disclaimer: All characters included in this story are the intellectual property of their original creators--CBS, P&G, the ATWT writers, and so forth. I only borrow them for harmless fun and make no money for doing so. If said creators even think about suing me, I'm going to make sure they end up on Santa's naughty list for eternity.

Author's Note: Wow! I'm kicking off the 2015 LuRe Yule celebration, and I hope you guys enjoy it! This story took a couple of twists and turns I didn't expect, but overall I think it turned out well. It's unbeta'd, so all mistakes are mine. Mucho thanks go out to [livejournal.com profile] tldreamer and [livejournal.com profile] moerlin for pulling this year's Challenge together, and to [livejournal.com profile] satine_1984 for the lovely banner! Without further ado, on with the show!! Merry Christmas, guys!!

Title: In the Eyes of the Law
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: PG-13.
Characters: Luke, Reid, various Oakdalians, named and unnamed.
Word Count: 1910.
Summary: Marriage equality comes to Oakdale…and the rest of the country as well.
Disclaimer: All fictional characters are the property of their original creators, and I earn nothing for writing about them, so they really shouldn’t think of suing me for doing so. In fact, I think the original creators should be flattered that five years after the show went off the air, their characters were so memorable that people continue to create new adventures for them. I just hope Justice Anthony Kennedy will forgive me for borrowing the last paragraph of his majority opinion for storytelling purposes.

Author’s Note: This story is for [livejournal.com profile] 1faghag, who wanted a drabble written in commemoration of the Supreme Court of the United States’ ruling on marriage equality. From the moment I read the last paragraph of the majority opinion, I knew I wanted to write something based on it. The dissenters took pot shots at the language Justice Kennedy used in the writing, but in my opinion, these people must have hearts of stone. That last paragraph was absolutely beautiful and encapsulated the heart of the matter. As for my offering, it’s unbeta’d and all mistakes are mine. I hope you enjoy it even if it can’t come close to touching the brilliance of that last paragraph.

Title: Junk Food Junkie
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: PG.
Characters: Luke, Reid, and Katie.
Word Count: 3400.
Summary: Luke discovers the dirty little secret lurking in Reid's kitchen.
Disclaimer: All characters are the intellectual property of their original creators, and I solemnly swear that when it comes to using them for this story, I'm up to nothing but good. No money exchanged hands or anything like that.

Author's Note: So I got the inspiration for this from a prompt [livejournal.com profile] lemondrop34 wanted to see for the February Fic-a-Thon. I'm only a month and a half late, but here it is! The story is unbeta'd, so all mistakes are mine. Enjoy!

ARGH! Work is as frustrating as ever, and about to get worse. This is my fault because I've allowed myself to be used as a doormat by a couple of people and I'm about to pull that mat out from under them--which will make for a fun workplace, let me tell you. So much for that resolution.

No writing done AT ALL.

Eating healthier is driving me insane, because all I see around me is junk food, junk food, junk food!!

And to top it all off, I'm coming down with either a bad cold or a sinus infection.

Lord, could you please give me a sign or SOMETHING to make me think things will get better? Because six days into this year, I'm ready for it to be over.

Title: After the Fall
Series: Nobody’s Angel universe
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: kinda sorta NC-17.
Characters: Luke, Reid, Lily, Faith, Natalie, Ethan, Lucinda, and John.
Word Count: 7680
Summary: It’s Reid’s first Christmas after his decision to become a Fallen angel, and he has an unexpected reaction to his first viewing of It’s a Wonderful Life.
Disclaimer: All characters in this story are the intellectual property of their original creators, although given how unintelligent said original creators turned out to be, the word “intellectual” should never be included in a sentence that mentions them. Anyway, I only borrow the characters for my own amusement and I don’t make money for doing so.

Author's Note: This story takes place a few months after the end of “Nobody’s Angel” but before the short story sequel “Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel,” and in a way it ties the two together. I’d like to thank flowersforchuck for posting the prompt about centering a LuRe story around a Christmas movie—the moment I saw It’s a Wonderful Life, on the list, I knew what I wanted to write. Thanks to zzzfreckles for reading over the story and catching some of the mistakes I made. Thanks to moerlin for the fabulous banner and to tldreamer for organizing this year’s LuRe Yule celebration!!

After the Fall )

It's not going to be too much of a surprise that my new year didn't get off to a great start resolution-wise, is it? *crickets* Yeah, didn't think so. Part of it was that my mother was sick, so I spent the day watching the Rose Parade and then some movies with her--although one of the resolutions I forgot to include yesterday was about managing to watch all the movies in my current collection (I've been working on this project for the past two and a half years), so maybe I didn't do as bad as I thought.

But no writing got done, so boo to me.
cardinalgirl75: (Default)
Well, here I am again, about to make resolutions that I know I'll never be able to keep. Last year, I couldn't even keep to writing weekly on a story I started out with such enthusiasm to write. I'm truly afraid my muse has gone on another extended vacation, although I was able to get something completed for the LuRe Yule Challenge.

But without further ado, here are my resolutions for the year:

1) Write 500 words a day. This might be more manageable than my usual 1000-word a day attempt, because I can bang out five hundred words over the extra thirty minutes of my lunch hour--when I get those thirty minutes, that is. The words may be a LuRe story, they may be for the original plot bunny which whacked me over the head at the gym one day, but they'll be words on a story.

2) Eat healthier. In my overall weight loss plan, started (yikes!) six years ago, this was supposed to be accomplished by year three. This is the year I do it, and if I lose the twenty or so pounds I think I need to lose in the process, even better.

3) Read 100 books. I've done well at this goal in the last two years--180 books each year; however, if I'm going to seriously step up my writing, I'm not going to do as much reading.

4) Post here more often. Do they have a 365-day-a-year meme that would encourage me to do this?

5) Not chicken out on my plan to go to New York alone in September. I might be a little less nervous about this if I'd been able to go to Chicago alone this past October, but my mother came along for the trip. Not that I resented it--I had a great time with her, but three days in Chicago was supposed to prepare me for New York. Why am I going alone? Because neither of my best friends have money to spare. Little Sister and Adorable Brother-in-Law want to come, but they're hoping she'll be pregnant by then and thus unable to go.

6) Try to do everything I can to keep myself afloat at work--without stressing too much about it. Um, yeah. If I still have my hair, my sanity, and my job at the end of this year, I'll be happy.

7) Maybe--just maybe--dip my toes into the dating pool to see if there's someone who might be interested. I could write a whole book on this alone.

Stay tuned to this station to find out how successful (or unsuccessful) I am with these goals...

Well, if I'm going to write a multi-chaptered story, I'd probably better go ahead and start a masterlist for it.

Title: What Have I Done to Deserve This?
Series: Standing at the Crossroads
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: PG.
Characters: Reid, Henry, Reid’s new assistant Lynzee, Kim, and Katie.
Word Count:
Summary: Reid’s very odd day continues.
Disclaimer: All characters (with the except of Lynzee) are the property of the Idiots in Charge who created them. I thank them kindly for not suing me for borrowing them. I like to believe the Idiots in Charge understand about the little glow I get whenever I’m able to break free of my writer’s block to write about LuRe’s further adventures and will forgive me for all the times I cursed at them when the show was on the air. (Of course, calling them idiots probably doesn’t help my cause there.)

Author's Note: This chapter covers two Fun Fic Friday prompts—“What Do You Want From Me?” and “Someone Saved My Life Tonight.” I know the story’s been slow going and I apologize for that. I’m not doing well at the goal I set for myself to write every week—real life keeps getting in the way and I’m battling writer’s block—but I’m not giving up. It is unbeta'd, so all mistakes are mine. Enjoy!

Title: Diner Talk
Series: Standing at the Crossroads
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: PG.
Characters: Luke, Reid, Bob, Henry, and Luke’s annoying old algebra teacher
Word Count: 3593
Summary: Reid’s day takes many twists and turns—none of which he expects.
Disclaimer: All characters are the property of the ATWT writers and P&G, and so on and so forth. I hereby vow that I only write about them because they gave me enjoyment while on the air in spite of everything the aforementioned idiots in charge did to them in the storyline, and I make no money by doing so.

Author's Note: This chapter, in a very roundabout way, includes the Fun Fic Friday prompt of “Everything and More.” It is unbeta'd, so all mistakes are mine. Enjoy!

Title: When It's Over
Series: Standing at the Crossroads
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: PG.
Characters: Luke, Reid, Noah, Casey, and Ali.
Word Count: 4806
Summary: Luke and Noah have a talk about the state of their relationship.
Disclaimer: *Insert usual statement about not owning characters and only borrowing them for fun*

Author's Note: This chapter is later than I anticipated, so as always, I'm sorry about that. I hope you'll think it was worth the wait. This chapter includes the Fun Fic Friday prompts of "Tangled Up," "Cut the Crap," and a bit of "Time Will Tell." It is unbeta'd, so all mistakes are mine.

Title: Strangers in the Night
Series: Standing at the Crossroads
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: PG.
Characters: "Farm Boy," Reid, and Katie.
Word Count: 2646
Summary: Reid's restless, and discovers someone familiar waiting for him online.
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters, who are owned by the people who created them. I don't make any money from borrowing them, and blah blah blah. But I defy anyone to deny me the right to enjoy them at my leisure.

Author's Note: This chapter includes the Fun Fic Friday prompts from March 7, which was "Love Me If You Dare," and March 14, "I Knew You Were Trouble." It's unbeta'd, so all mistakes are mine. I apologize for the delay--I've been writing at work and typing at home, so while the next chapter is written, it hasn't been transcribed yet. I'm hoping to get to it this weekend, if I can dodge my sister wanting my help getting her moved into her new house. We'll see. Anyway, heeeere's Lu...I mean, Farm Boy!!!

Title: When Reid Met Katie
Series: Standing at the Crossroads
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: PG
Characters: Reid, Katie, Henry, and Kim (on the phone).
Word Count: 5130.
Summary: Reid and Katie share dinner at Al's.
Disclaimer: All characters are the intellectual property of CBS, P&G, and their creators. I make nothing for borrowing them. Although given that bunch's complete lack of intellect, I question whether they should ever have been trusted with these characters in the first place.

Author's note: Here I am, late again with a promised chapter. But hey, I didn't anticipate that it would turn out so long! And I originally planned to use two of the FFF prompts but was only able to fit one in--February 28's "Who Are You?" But good news is on the horizon! I'm busy at work on the next chapter, and it does feature the return of Farm Boy and Dr. Evil!! This story is unbeta'd, so all mistakes are mine. Enjoy!

When Reid Met Katie... )
cardinalgirl75: (Default)
Title: Back to Life
Series: Standing at the Crossroads
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: PG
Characters: Reid, Katie, and Kim.
Word Count: 2354
Summary: A despondent Katie gets talked into going to dinner, but she unexpectedly finds herself making other plans.
Disclaimer: None of the characters here are mine, much though it pains me to admit it, and I make no money from using them for this story. I'm merely taking good care of them, so back off, P&G and CBS. If you'd bothered to do anything good for them, maybe I wouldn't have to.

Author's Note: Er, yes, it's been a lot longer for me to finish with this chapter than I thought it would take. Sorry about that, but real life once again claimed me and I only just got around to finishing this part, which is based on the Fun Fic Friday prompts "Feel Again" and "Behind Blue Eyes." Part of the next chapter has already been written, and I hope to have it by the end of the week. In the meantime, enjoy!

Back to Life )
cardinalgirl75: (Default)
Hi! It's me. I know anyone reading has figured I abandoned this story, but no. In fact, I hope to have a chapter incorporating the first three Fun Fic Friday prompts I've missed ready to go by the end of this week, time permitting.

As to where I've been, well...two weeks in Florida followed by Little Sister's wedding. I don't know why we decided to schedule the vacation before the wedding, when clearly the best time to relax and unwind would be after the insanity that is planning a wedding, especially when it's for Little Sister, but that's the way it worked out. Anyway, yesterday, Little Sister married Adorable Brother-in-Law, and yes, I did cry when she walked down the aisle because she was the most beautiful bride in the world.

So now that the insanity is over and done with, spring is finally in the air and that means time spent outside, merrily writing the further adventures of Dr. Evil and Farm Boy. Although the next chapter is told from Katie's point-of-view...

Title: How Not to Make a First Impression
Series: Standing at the Crossroads
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: PG.
Characters: Reid and Bob.
Word Count: 1700.
Summary: Reid and Bob meet for the first time.
Disclaimer: These characters are not mine, I merely write about them for my own and others' amusement. I would appreciate it if their rightful owners would not sue me as I am merely trying to bring joy to my humdrum existence by doing so.

Author's Note: This is the next part of the "Standing at the Crossroads" series, and boy, did this chapter take a twist I didn't see coming when I sat down to the computer this morning!! It was inspired by last week's Fun Fic Friday prompt of "Brief Encounter." This is unbeta'd, so all mistakes are mine.

Title: Grandmother Knows Best
Series: Standing at the Crossroads
Author: writergirl2006 (Dee)
Rating: PG.
Characters: Luke, Lucinda, with mentions of Reid, Noah, Lily, Holden, and Damian.
Word Count: 2268.
Summary: Luke enjoys dinner on a New York rooftop with Lucinda. Whether he enjoys their discussion is up for debate.
Disclaimer: All characters are the property of CBS, P&G, their creators, and so forth, and I make nothing from borrowing them for the purposes of writing this story. I'm not too worried about them coming after me, though, since they clearly didn't care what happened to them.

Author's Note: Well, here it is, the next chapter in my Fun Fic Friday challenge series, "Standing at the Crossroads." It's based on the prompt from two weeks ago of "Up on the Roof." I'm sorry it took me so long to get it together, but I honestly couldn't believe how much trouble I had writing this chapter. The story is unbeta'd, so all mistakes are mine.
